I'm the executive producer for the web site of a nonprofit publisher of education news, information, and resources, I play in a band, and I work on analyzing and influencing the impact of computers on society. I love my partner in life and my daughter very much.
Stories about cool events I've attended, musings about social media and other technology, and commentary about people, issues, ideas, whatever. I've had a web site since 1994, at my own domain since 1997, and switched it to blog format in 2005. Now, in 2008, I've added labels, shuffled things around a bit and fixed some style and UI quirks - hence 2.1. Watch for more widgets and microformats....
We'll also be drinking donated beer courtesy of Capitol City Brewing Company and munching on donated food, including Southside 815's amazing southern cuisine, as well as others from around the area. All the beers you can handle. Sorry kids, you must be 21 to enter.
Advanced tickets are $25 until April 30th, then it's $35 at the door. Advance payments can be made via Paypal. (Payments will be directed to neil@Degeeked.com, one of the organizing eagles responsible for the event.)
The Eagles will also be raffling off $50 gift certificates donated by businesses in the Alexandria area.
When: Saturday, May 2, 2009 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Where: Fraternal Order of Eagles 1015 Cameron St Alexandria, VA (View Map)
Continuing the theme of lastp-minute plugs, I have one more thing to share - please come out for the Hungry for Crawfish Boil next Saturday, May 9 from 1 to 5 PM at Fort Hunt Park. It's a benefit for music education charity Hungry for Music!
Check out the new widget for the Nonprofit Technology Network's annual Nonprofit Technology Conference, in less than two weeks, in New Orleans! I'm helping out with social events, and may help out on a panel too. You should go! Recently I've also been to We Media Miami and American Business Media's Digital Velocity in New York, where I presented on social media at edweek.org Hopefully, I'll blog about all of these soon.
