I'm the executive producer for the web site of a nonprofit publisher of education news, information, and resources, I play in a band, and I work on analyzing and influencing the impact of computers on society. I love my partner in life and my daughter very much.
Stories about cool events I've attended, musings about social media and other technology, and commentary about people, issues, ideas, whatever. I've had a web site since 1994, at my own domain since 1997, and switched it to blog format in 2005. Now, in 2008, I've added labels, shuffled things around a bit and fixed some style and UI quirks - hence 2.1. Watch for more widgets and microformats....
See this post and the previous on the victory that the media reform folks see in this deal. There's a bit of controversy about this, with some net geeks and the like questioning the actual victory, but it is certainly interesting. The only thing that is clear is the need to get Congress to pass new laws enshrining these standards ... before the deal with AT&T expires.
I'm embarrassed to say that many of my blog links haven't worked lately. I think that this happened when Blogger changed to beta or something, but I don't know for sure. I hope it wasn't like this for a long time (I fixed by putting a bunch of symlinks in my home directory if you care).
Here's some good music! I met Mike Watt at a Minutemen show over 20 years ago...hangin' out in the crowd, talkin' about the opening acts, very cool dude!
